The MIDAS project undertaken by Dr Paul Thomas investigated at a Nano level the space where skin and gold meet- exploring what gets transferred when the material is being touched and the level of interaction between the skin and what happens in that space?  The initial phase of MIDAS was undertaken at Symbiotica working in culturing cells with Oron Catts and later growing cells on silk with Ionat Zurr, Jennifer Willet and Shawn Bailey. The change in data that can be recorded of the atoms vibration in relationship to the transition phase between skin and gold was gathered at the Nanochemistry Research Institute (NRI) and archived to use for the main resource in the generation of the art work.

3 month part time residency funded by the artist.
